All your data is stored on your machine. We don’t store any of your knowledge data on our servers.

Who has access to my knowledge data?
With the single user Digital Investigative Board, only you will have access to your data. reKnowledge has no access to it.

Does the target website know I use reKnowledge web-browser add-on?
No, all data overlay and processing is run locally, so the target website will not know that you have been using the web-browser add-on on it.

When installing reKnowledge, I am getting a warning about enabling network access (public or private) . What should I do?
It is up to you to define over which network you want the DIB to work. If you are planning to work only on a secured network (home, office) you can select “private network”. This means reKnowledge will not work when you are using public networks.

Where is reKnowledge installed on my machine?
reKnowledge is installed in the user folder.

- On Windows, go to your Local Disk (C:) > Users > [your_user_name]. reKnowledge is stored in the folder .rKn.
- On Mac, go to your root directory and navigate to /Users/[your_user_name]/.rkn
Can I export my knowledge?
Yes, you can export all your data (nodes and connections) in csv format. You can either export the data for a specific visualisation by clicking export graph on the analytical workbench, or run a query in the advanced search and export the result in csv format.

How can I remove the reKnowledge Digital Investigative Board from my computer?
To remove the software, go to its location (on a Windows machine the software is located at Local Disk (C:) > Users > [your_user_name]. Deleting the .rKn folder will remove the whole app and all the data you created from your machine

Can I share my knowledge with another Digital Investigative Board user?
The current version of the Digital Investigative Board doesn’t support knowledge sharing between single users accounts. Contact us to upgrade to an enterprise licence.

Can I publish graphs created with the Analytical workbench? Do I own the intellectual property of such a graph?
Yes, you can directly publish graphs created with the Analytical workbench. You retain full intellectual property for all the graphs you create with our tool.

Can I remove or transform the default ontology?
Yes. The default ontology is set up for intelligence research, so some of the node sub-classes and connections may not fit your need. You are welcome to delete or transform the node classes (except for the 5 base classes (Individual, Entity, Location, Event, Item) as you see fit.

Can I still access my existing data if my license expires?
Yes, you will be able to read and export your existing knowledge even if the license expires. However, you will not be able to add new data (either through the workbench or the addon) or save new queries, projects, or graphs. To re-activate those functions you will need to buy a new license.
